First National Bank of Holdrege Increases Local Ownership

posted on 4/1/2010 by Laurie Hill

The First National Bank of Holdrege is proud to announce that local shareholders have recently increased their ownership interests in the bank. Paula Titus and her children Eric, Ann and Ted along with John and Suzanne Titus now own 100% of the family owned shares in the bank.

The bank, historically known as the Titus Bank, has been a family owned, locally managed community bank throughout its 126 year history. Through six generations however, family members who held shares had spread well beyond the borders of Phelps County.

Bank President Scott Latter stated that all the family shareholders agreed that consolidating the ownership back to Phelps County would be good for the local economy and the customers of the bank. He added it would strengthen the local commitment by the owners and insure local control and decision making into the future.

Eric, Ted and Paula Titus are all active in the daily management of the Bank.

“This change was made possible by the hard work, dedication and loyalty of our staff” according to Chairman of the Board, Eric Titus. Titus continued, “Between the 30 employees there is over 500 years of combined service to the bank and our customers. Nearly one third of the employees have been with the bank for over 25 years. That dedication is what sets us apart and has allowed us to serve our customers on the same corner for over 126 years.”

Ted Titus, Senior Vice President and Board Member agreed, adding “We felt this was a great opportunity as it ensures decisions are made locally, which is important for an independent, community owned bank whose primary focus is to invest in people and projects that will benefit Phelps County and South Central Nebraska.”

The First National Bank of Holdrege was nationally chartered on April 1, 1884. The bank looks forward to continuing a tradition of providing services along with leadership and support to the community, its organizations and institutions.
